Loupie has been doing her 101 things in 1001 days for a while now. I can’t quite remember how far through she is.
After subscribing to the Project52 idea; I wondered what else I could do. and the DayZero Project Sounds interesting;
The Challenge:
Complete 101 pre-set tasks in a period of 1001 days.The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple challenges such as New Year’s resolutions or a ‘Bucket List’. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips, study semesters, or outdoor activities.
So while I am thinking about my list of 101 things I will list the ones I come up with below, with a view to start the challenge on the 1st March 2010 which puts my end date 1029 days.
- Take a picture to celebrate each goals completion (and perhaps a blog post
) - Get a Job
- Move away from Swindon
- Re-Start university
- Give up alcohol for a month
- Give up Tea and Coffee for a month
- Organize my photos
- Finish reading the books I own
- Learn how to edit videos
- Climb at least 10 Munros
- Complete the P52 Challenge
- Develop all of the Photos I have on Film
- Attend a LAN party
- Sell off all unnecessary things on Ebay
- get rid of clothes not worn in 2 years
- Host a wine and cheese evening
- Buy a new CD each month for a year
- Give £2 to charity for each task I don’t complete
- Go swimming at least once a week for 3 months
- Complete the “The Most Ancient and Venerable Order of the Skylark and Hawthorne” challenge [ref]
- Drink only water for 1 month
- Watch 25 of 100 “Best Movies” [This list]
- Host a board game night
- Have dinner by candlelight
- Put £25 for every goal completed into a Savings account
- Not log into facebook for a whole week
- Keep my bedroom spotless for a month
- Go for a walk every day for a month
- Spend a whole weekend (Sat-Sun) without TV/Computer/Etc.
- Get a new camera
- Get a new Phone
- Learn how to scuba dive
- Skinny dip
- Update my Curriculum Vitae
- plant a tree
- Go to at least 10 concerts
- Stop biting my nails
- See the Rocky Horror Picture Show in drag
- Complete the C25K
- Complete the One Hundred Press-up Challenge
- Complete the Two Hundred Sit up challenge
- Complete the 7lb in 7 Day supper juice diet
I will have to have a think about this and work some more on it.
Things that have been removed from my list:
- Give up chocolate for a month [1]
- Give up fizzy drinks for a month [1]
- Inspire someone else to make a Day Zero list [2]
- Complete the “5,000 Question Survey” [this] [3]
- Loupie Correctly pointed out that these would not be a challenge for me, as I so rarely do the activity I would be giving up
- After reading this blog bma and Natalie started their own lists but before I had started my DayZero project.
- This Task has no real aim, and or point; and as such has been removed.
