About this copy

Every possible step has been taken to ensure that the material on this site is either my own work, is copyright free and/or I have the owners permission to include it. However, because I include contributions from members of the public the situation may arise whereby I have been sent material which the contributor did not have permission to reproduce. If you spot any material on this site that belongs to you or that you know I do not have permission to reproduce, please contact me and the offending material will be removed as soon as possible.

This site is NOT intended to be a canal news site. It is intended as a canal guide and history site. Please look elsewhere for up to date news. Although Please let me know of any major changes, or useful links to other sites.

This set of pages, were taken from CanalRoutes.net which was launched in December 2011. There was a conversation on the Yahoo Canal list about that site.

The content this part of my site is taken from the now non-operational site CanalRoutes.org which was operational from 1997 to 2007.

All the information is the result of a great research and work of more than 10 years and the majority of content copyright belongs to its author; Peter Hardcastle. Beyond his copyright everything in addition is available under a Creative Commons License Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (Same as content on the rest of the site).

The author of the content, Peter Hardcastle is not associated with the current site.

The site’s purpose is to provide information about the history of the canals and not to be a news site with up to date information. It is merely here to serve as reference for anybody interested to find out more about the history of the canals.

However I am looking to start trying to update the information, if you have any information that I can use please contact me.
