For years I have been having post forwarded to me using the following method:

As you can see The Royal mail seem to have taken exception to this, and stuck a “Postage unpaid deficient postage” / “Revenue Protection” sticker on it, for that pleasure they have charged me 50p and a £1.00 handling fee. for the pleasure of forwarding this letter from the IWA (Inland Waterways Association) [link].
Calling the royal mail complaints number 08457 740 740 (yes of course I didn’t call an 0845 number, I used 01752 387112). I have been told that they are “cracking down” on this method of forwarding, and that I should really be using official Royal Mail Redirection, which is £21 per quarter/address change.
I suspect that this cracking down is more to do with increasing the profitability pending the sell off rather than because its a problem.
